Wave 10 Line-up posted on AFi

Our friends from ActionFigureInsider.com just posted the character line-up for the much talked about DCUC Wave 10 Walmart Exclusive. It seems that one of the insiders obtained the information straight from Walmart’s computer system. Check it out now by following this link: http://www.actionfigureinsider.com/main/?p=3718

This is not official news from Mattel so some of you may want to take it with a grain of salt. But in my experience, the guys at AFi are usually right on the money.

walmart sucks, they should of thought wave 10 through

  • Jon says:

    HALLELUJAH, BROTHER!

The CAC figure is Imperiex who I don’t know and don’t care about.
I can find these guys loose and not sweat it.
And I’m sick of sweating it.
Sitting quietly and meditating on all my 6″ guys killing each other on my various shelves is how I enjoy this hobby, not hunting all over creation trying to out-wit the local toy-scalpers.
However, if Mattel is listening here still and not weary of our abuse (though I dare-say warranted, sadly) how about making giant guys like Imperiex and Mongul and Chemo as 12″ plastic figures instead of junk that makes no sense like Killer Croc? Honestly, does anyone have a use for a 12″ Croc-ster?

WAL-MART! I knew it! They couldn’t have it everywhere, so instead they are going to have it nowhere. No one I know has or has seen wave 5, and now it will be the same story all over again with wave 9.

So upsetting. What is the point of having an exclusive wave if it isn’t distributed to the place where it is exclusively sold?

  • Gladiator says:

I happy to hear about this line up but sad to hear that Walmart is getting them. I haven’t seen a figure in Walmart (MN) since the DC Superhero days. Oh well I’ll have my buddies back at home (VA) get these for me. This line up sounds great but Walmart just puts a damper on thing.

  • Lightsource says:

Gideon…..Yes obscure characters have been made in non-exclusive waves, but Forager and Robotman are only possible because of Batman and Joker’s inclusion. People have to remember that Wave 10 is intended to run alongside other waves as it is an exclusive and an “extra wave”…an extra wave that wouldn’t exist without Walmart. Who knows if Forager and Robotman would even make the cut for a non-exclusive wave over other characters or not. Only Mattel would know that.

  • Gideon says:

The comment “these figures (the more obscure ones anyway) would never be made without Walmart asking for an exclusive” has no basis in fact. From the very start, we had Metamorpho, Etrigan, Orion, Black Manta…these are not the most recognized characters in the DCU. There are no excuses for what Mattel is doing here; its a poor business/marketing decision, and the only way the customers are going to stop it is to not buy these figures when they cost $20.00 and up. If you go to Target or the like, have you seen the endless rows of the Hulk, Iron Man, and Dark Knight figures collecting dust?? Have you seen the huge mark downs in price the stores are doing, to get rid of these things?? Furthermore, why on earth would you do “exclusive” business with a company that ALREADY botched the first go-round??

    Mattel should
    (A) NOT do business with wm again,
    (B) Re-issue wave 5
    (C) Work on the quality of the figures they are releasing
    (D) Take CARE of their CUSTOMERS!

The American auto industry refused to do the right thing for decades and finally got what they deserve. Mattel should take note.

Let’s not give in to stupidity and greed.

Wikipedia has had this wave up for a month now as well as wave 11. It’s GL heavy….

    • Jon says:

One of the nice things about not reading comics since a year or two after the original “Crisis…” is my character interest is VERY limited. Of all Wave 11 (if it’s correct) only Deadman interests me.

Keep your Earth 3 Green Lantern Corp Deadshots and Gleeps: J’onn J’onzz, Swamp Thing, Arcane (monster version, please!), Spectre and assorted vintage JSA, Teen Titans, Doom Patrolers and I’m QUITS.

      • Kevin says:

Earth-3 Green Lantern…you mean Power Ring(I think he was called)?

        • Jon says:

*laughs* I didn’t mean that literally – just an amalgamation of a whole lot of sub-canon DC crud I don’t care about. Earth One, Earth Two as it was pre-1984, that’s all I care about.

DC thought they were simplifying things back then, when all they did was make them lame. I mean, c’mon! Infinity Inc., one of my fave books back then, didn’t make any sense after the Crisis and the characters lost all their gravity. Who are these guys and who cares, if they weren’t the kids of the All Star Squadron etc.? They may as well ahve been anybody at all.

I lasted all of a year and a half post Crisis before I got bored and gave up.

So now I see they’re going out of their way to complicate it again. Bully for them, but I’m OUT.
And I won’t be buying any of these absurd new version characters/figures – leave that to the DC Direct to achieve, where it seems like every single one-shot issue gets it’s action figure.

  • David X says:

I hear DCUC figures are being increased to 15 bucks a pop soon and people all over action figure collector forums are now exclaiming that they’re quitting DCUC.

If this price increase is true, it could mean the utter demise of DCUC very fast.

    • John Jones says:

Sheesh. If they go up to 15, I’m buying Man Bat and Joker. Possibly Batman or Beast Boy as well.

    • John Jones says:

But this is the same thing that happened with Marvel Legens when they switched to Hasbro, they went from 8 to 10. The extra 2 dollars for a poorer quality action figure didn’t make any sense to me, so I stopped buying them. Unless DCUC gets some sort of epicly awesome display base or like a comic, as weel as the CC piece, I’m only buying the ones I deem necessary, like Joker and Man Bat.

  • John Jones says:

Hm. My Wal Mart has had series 6 and nothing else since FEBRUARY. I think they got one ocean camo Aquaman at one point, but then BACK to Kalibak. This series is absolutely amazing and a first appearance Bats would save me alot of money so I can get that instead of the DC Direct one. Man Bat is awesome, and THE JOKER. Everyone knows what happened to the first wal mart exclusives will happen to these guys. We’ll never see them in stores and they’ll be outrageously expensive online. Oh well, I’ll get whatever I can of this wave.

  • Brian says:

I’m happy to hear that they’re coming out with a Black and Grey suit Batman and even happier about Joker and Man-Bat … but really Walmart?! That **** pisses me off. I go to my Walmart and all i see is Mr. Miracle and The Atom. It’s been that way for months. Walmart blows.

I’m shopping online i suppose … ebay anyone?

  • I will rant; this is horse **** of the smelliest order. The Joker? Beast Boy? Man-Bat? Power Girl? These are high profile characters! What the hell is Mattel thinking by making this an exclusive to “Sorry-Didn’t-We-Screw-You-Already?” Mart? It’s already so difficult to find an entire wave in general release that I don’t even bother to shop in the stores anymore. Putting The Joker in this line up is manipulative and insulting to those of out here who are avid fans of the figures. Not to mention those of us who have flat out ideological issues with Wal-Mart in general. These kinds of exclusive waves are never a good idea. ANd when Wal-mart FUCKS Mattel and DCUC fans again, we’ll see who comes crying to who.

    • Jon says:

      Effin’ A, Brother.

    • Rimmer says:

      “Ideological issues” with Walmart?

Get real and quite drinking the Kool-Aid. Why not complain about beloved Target or K-mart, then? Grow up.

From a politically conservative, independant action figure buyer.

  • Lightsource says:

The reality is unfortunately the fans are damned either way. These figures (the more obscure ones anyway) would never be made without Walmart asking for an exclusive. Mattel, sheepishly, can’t really refuse Walmart and expect to survive retail – Ironic considering how little Walmart commits to it anyway. Only certain Walmarts got the last wave or carry DCUC at all even now – mostly by region, and the fact is that all Walmart’s toy departments are shrinking as the big wigs don’t see much profit in it. The only semi-cooperative toy department head I found for Wave 5 said he’d love to order them but honestly wouldn’t have any place to put them if he did, so….he didn’t. Mattel may have them contracted for greater quantities, but unless Walmart can distribute them evenly this “Ebay exclusive numero dos” is going to light up the blogosphere with hate!
I think Mattel would be better off to offer their exclusives to Target instead (despite JLU), as they have a much more condusive retail model.
The real crux is having holes in most collections of not just key characters like Atom and Riddler but next Joker and Manbat. My advice — if your local Walmart is not going to carry these give in to the Scalpers early on or you’ll have to deal with the $50 mark-ups later. A sad reality…

  • Jaime Rheyes says:

Finally~ A beast Boy action figure!

  • Gideon says:

Ah, but WHICH wal-mart will get this line up…and will they get more than 4 figures?? Because if Mattell isnt completely stupid, thats about what happened the last time this crap idea hatched. I want to see a statement, in writing, vowing ALL wm’s will get large stocks of ALL of this line up. There are still idiots out there paying over $100.00 for a Black Lightning or Riddler from wave 5. Mattel doesnt see a dime of that so it makes no sense to me.

YES, there are a LOT of PISSED OFF potentional CUSTOMERS out here…are you LISTENING?? You OWE them better than this!

  • Jon says:

I won’t rant yet ‘cos nothing’s for certain, but if this wave is Walmart only I’m calling the cops.

Before I go for the jugular re: Mattel and DCU availability, let me say now that their customer service people were very kind and understanding when I explained that my CornerStore Comics purchased DCU Hawkgirl had her mace hand splitting at the wrist in package and could they send me another, loose even?
Took them only four days to mail me a Mattel credit coupon for $12.00 .
    That was greatly appreciated.

Maybe Mattel should put THOSE folks in charge of distribution and allocation, yes?
