Chemo photos from NYCC 2009

These photos of Chemo were taken at the Mattel booth during the recent New York Comic Con (NYCC) 2009.

Chemo comes as a “Collect and Connect” figure and can only be obtained by purchasing all of the Wave 9 characters.

Yeah, the Chemo from Crisis on Infinite Earths would have been awesome, but I’ve seen pics of this one with a backlight and he’s translucent, which is cool. It would be nice if they made a BAF of Plastic Man or Elongated Man down the line. They could be giant and super-stretched out or Plas could be in the shape of something. Anyway, kudos to the Four Horsemen and Mattel!

I wish he was more articulated, but he’ll do.And what is this about a floating figure inside of him????????????

I prefer the Silver age version of Chemo minus the mechanical stuff on him. There needs to be a bubbling appearance and not just a solid green body. The 60’s Chemo wasn’t solid green in color from what I remember, even though the current version is.

Looks kinda cool but not cool enough to buy all the figures to complete it. I think I will pass in most of the characters on this line. Probably Mantis and the Brawler are going to make it to my shelf since I have the other guys from DC Direct. 🙂

Is Mattel on Stay Puft Marshmellow syndrome after acquiring the Ghostbuster license. Pretty pointless as a C2C figure. Next to no detail on him. A boring looking brick. Probably would’ve made a better release as a playset of some sort.

“JUST ADD WATE AND WATCH HIM GROW” or some such tagline.

I would have luved to have overheard Mattel pitching a character named affectionately “Chemo” to the retailers at Toy Fair. It’s like Marvel pitching the character “Holocaust”, thus the namechange to “Nemesis”. Ironic since the Marvel Nemesis series wound up in retailer limbo! Let’s hope Ollie and bunch don’t share the same fate and still make it retail!!!

I’m so happy! I never, in a million years, thought there would be a Chemo action figure! Mattel is making several characters that I thought would never be made…ever. Thanks so much for mining the rich history of the DCU.

  • Caesar says:

A figure floating inside of him? That was a crazy great idea. And if we can take the figure and then putting it back in him, whooa, that’ll be so cool.
But without it, this is still a nice figure.

Maybe Mattel can make this guy looks more translucent and clearer. Like there’s water or bubble inside of him..

I was wondering how the were going to do Chemo…I was hoping you could have a figure floating inside of him…just kidding…
