Timed exclusives. 18 at Wal-Mart, some won’t care. The rumored JSA wave 19 at Target? Watch that one get lost in the mix big time. Scalpor? Where art thou?

Its hard to make everybody satisfied, especially with a mass market toyline. But I think we have to appreciate mattel and the 4 horsemen. If you like it then buy the wave, if you don’t like it, well that’s a good thing for your wallet..
This is just a toy line, and toy is supposed to be fun. The force is strong within DCUC, and its a long way to go.. And finally at some point, everyone will be happy..

  • Bradley Sugg says:

I have been waiting for these figures for a long time…and to get toyman!!! I can’t wait…normal size toys work as giant toy based weapons for him!!!

  • g alec says:

whatever, ive given up on this line. Target just upped the price to $17.29 a figure……Im not that big a fool.

drop the price, these figures arent made of OPEC oil.

    • Jon says:

Here here. The cost have been driven too high and the quality and availability too low.
Critics of fan’s complaints must understand the point: if the line requires retail store support by the likes of WalMart and Target then the line isn’t going to last much longer with all these “junk” figures. I haven’t seen anything in months at Target and little more at WalMart. Toys R Us and online comic book stores seem to be carrying things.
Mattel went off on a tangent in focusing on the old Super Powers line and SuperFriends cartoon (we’re not getting Wendy and Marv, are we?).
No one wants to see DC Universe Classics (not DC Universe remakes or Green Lantern “flavor of the month”) go under before the major teams and villains are released, because let’s face it – six inch figures don’t appeal to kids, and this is an adult enthusiast’s last chance for another generation, hence the complaints.

  • Black Morpheus says:

El Dorado…LOL. Yeah, you guys should be happy, these will be on clearance by fall and then the JSA themed line will arrive around Christmastime. Just be patient this year and hold onto your cash until either the sales start or the good characters arrive.

And Captain Boomerang is wearing a toque hat. How awesome is that!

  • I hate exclusives says:

Um they said their won’t be any retailer exclusives then what’s the tag by toymans feet say. It looks like we got a problem.

    • JuliusMarx says:

As the article that Peter links to says, there will be some waves that have exclusive WINDOWS at some retailers. They would get the waves about a month before, but then after that window everywhere else will get them. That’s what that tag by their feet says. These will be exclusive to Walmart first, then they will go wide.

      • Jon says:

The retailers that will get them late aren’t as stupid as Mattel seems to think:
I have seen NONE of the Validus wave at Target or Walmart since K-Mart got them first at a discount. And there was little enough available even with four K-Marts near me. Toys R Us got them in dribs and drabs – two or three figures from the line at a time and never close to a full set on the shelf at once.
This may as well be an exclusive.

  • Richard Parker says:

Again, with the promises stating with wave 17 there would be a female character in each wave. Wave 17 OK, what happened to wave 18? Who are theses characters other than “superpowers team” a spin off from the original superfriends isn’t? I don’t think its politically correct? To name a hero “Black Vulcan, or El Durado” in today’s society unless you want the line to crash and burn

    • John Jones says:

Seriousy. This line is almost entirely to appease the Super Friends hxc fans. I only really want Bronze Tiger, Captain Boomerang, and Toyman. The other three and the C&C are a waste of money. And they should definitely drive the price down. They’re great figures, but they aren’t 17 dollars great. Maybe 12. Optimistically 10. We’re never going to see the original Marvel Legends 8 again, I don’t think.
