First Look at Metron by AFi

Good friend Daniel Pickett (a.k.a. Julius Marx) just posted a bunch of photos and a short review of the much anticipated figure of Metron and his chair on Action Figure Insider. This figure is exclusive to MattyCollector.com’s Club Infinite Earths subscribers.

THIS is what is wrong with “Matty”.

First, your company is rude and generally have no respect for your customers. That smug looking mascot of yours is a testament to that. You dodge customer questions and comments on a regular basis, use canned answers (if you answer at all) on your forums and can’t give a straight answer to save your lives. And IF you answer it’s in the form of a thinnly veiled insult, a lie or has nothing to do with the question you’ve been asked. Shame on you.

Second, your DCUC wave sold JUST FINE, when it was available to your customers (in other words, almost never). You cancelled DCUC and went to the far more expensive “sub only” figures instead of working on your glaring distribution. quality control and public relations problems (brilliant strategy, by the way). CIE has NOTHING to do with appeasing your customers and everything to do with overcharging people for figures they don’t want for the sake of getting the 2 or 3 you should have released 4 years ago like Poison Ivy and Jay Garrick (still no sign of Huntress or Eleongated Man, I might add).

Thirdly, you threaten people who buy figures on eBay for nothing more than using the site for it’s intended purpose. Really? Who do you people think you are? If it’s available for purchase it’s fair game. Period. I, for one, am not going to run a background check on an eBay seller before doing business with them. If you have a problem with people bidding on action figures that you don’t want available to the public that’s just it: YOUR problem. Make them available to the public or stop making DC figures. Pass the “buck” to the company or your left and move on to something else.

I’ve been collecting DC figures for years and have heard nothing but train wreck-esque reports of Mattel’s public relations and quality control problems. How long has it been since the Metamorpho wave hit store shelves? You people have had MORE than enough time to clean up your act. This is the last straw. I don’t care what you release in the future, I’m done with you people and your product.

I’m moving on to DC Direct. May YOUR line rot in obscurity.

At least attempt to SOMEWHAT save face with your customers and give them a MISS MARTIAN figure for you-know-what’s-sake.

Seriously!?! What is WRONG with you people?

      Amen, brother.
Ths new subscription business does nothing but benefit eBay sellers, and there are still a few dozen figures that should have been made by now except for Mattel’s bizarre preoccupation with ‘Superfriends’ and the SuperPowers line, not to mention the “flavor of the month” ‘Darkest Night’ crap…

I only pray they can get to Rita and the Chief, Will Magnus and Platinum and a few more CLASSIC(remember that element of the series name?) New Teen Titans villains like Brother Blood and Blackfire before this goes busto. I’ve come to far to leave the teams incomplete, but I’m not wasting money on peripheral or new characters.

Does Mattel like to make money or don’t they? Tighten up, produce what the fans want and be done with it – it’s clear Mattel is bored with DCUC and wants out.
