I found wave 8 at Target & wave 9 at Toys R Us this weekend. A nice new fact was that wave 9 had an “Only at Toys R Us” sticker on it.
on a different note what is up with this site, are they ever update again? I loved coming hear for the new info, but they are very far behind.
Maybe it’s because the Matty Collector website is opening a forum section soon and they didn’t want to compete.

  • Darkside Games says:

I don’t know if anyone cares anymore…but I found Wave 8 & 9 between Target and Toys r Us over the weekend. By the way, do they ever update this site anymore? I liked keeping up on the info but there has been no info as of late.

I guess with the matty collector website opening a forum section soon they did not want to compete with it.

  • Andrew S says:

Keep up the good work guys. I hope there will be a Donna Troy action figure coming in 2010.

  • Shane says:

I saw them in Walmart yesterday. I saw all but Deadman and the comic (green) version of Steppenwolf. I got all but the Super Powers Steppenwolf as the holiday left my funds bare, lol. Kilowog is quite huge. He actually is larger than Chemo, which is odd looking since Chemo is supposed to be the size of a Macy’s balloon, lol.

As for wave 8 and 9, I’ve seen more of the Chemo wave than I have Giganta. I’ve only seen Vigilante and Dr.Fate from that wave, but at least they’re still being shipped. I never saw Sinestro from Wave 3 in the stores at all, and everyone knows about the Metallo wave, lol.

  • Darkside Games says:

Has anyone even seen these in the stores yet? I have yet to see wave 8 or 9 in any store! I got 10 but no 8 or 9…WTF!!!

  • Traveller says:

Essentially a Blackest Night which IMO is a total waste. Don’t like it when the “current events” in the comics pollute the toy line but cross promotion must exist where it must. Plus Blackest Night is hardly you’re cheery, walk in the park type comic. Lots of people dying and psuedo-ressurrections that toy with the heartstrings and emotionso of the fans. That type of profiteering by the comic book companies is disgusting.

    • Jon says:

      My feelings, too.
The line is “DC Universe Classics”, not “DC Universe Flavor of the Month”.

At the rate DC and Marvel kill and resurrect characters these days who cares anymore?

They should have saved that kind of thing for “DC Infinite Heroes”, cranking out new fresh ones every few months,
and not wasted time with the 24 year old obsolete (though fun) “Crisis on Infinite Earths”.

  • D5 says:

So Tru Raised its PRices. 14.99 in my area of southern California

  • Jon says:

Interesting – the Walmart Gotham 5 Luthor IS exclusive:
it seems a Chinese ebayer is selling a prototype touted as wave 11
(2 pack with Supergirl I’d imagine)
and it’s a remake of the S3 armored version.

Glad I went bananas to get three G5 Luthors when I did.

    • Jon says:

They all look great but I hope they make Darkseid a little darker and not this powder blue. DeSaad looks awesome…
Do I ditch my DC Superheroes ones?
Too cool – a Spectre to hang with my Watcher/Galactus/Death figures in my JLA/Avengers set up – whoopee!

  • Andrew S. says:

Finally John Stewart and Katma Tui. Yes yes yes. Katma Tui looks very SEXY. Love the final product. She is a must have to my collection.

  • niko says:

You guys are all a bunch of crybabies. The great part about America is that you dont have do buy them if you dont like the price. This is the best sculpted line ever with the awesomest character selection. These make Toybiz and Hasbros Marvel Legends look like lumps of dogturd. I think they are worth every penny, and I just bought a Flash figure at Toys R Us for 10.99. Go cry on the Hasbro websites.

    • The Flash III says:

True. The price sucks, but if you don’t like it, stop your collection now.

    • Jon says:

Ever notice just how nasty people who enjoy being ripped off get? Doesn’t make a lot of sense, right?
      Or maybe… no, that’s silly –
Why would Mattel or Hasbro pay anyone to make their righteous critics sound cheap so the rest of us will clam up?
The fact is that plastic products all over have remained the same price, from spatulas to dvd cases.
So what IS Mattel’s excuse for their soon-to-be increase of 50 effin’ % per figure?
Maybe it’s like what the head of a major pharmaceutical company told CNN a few years ago when asked why they charged so much for meds here in the States compared to Canada:
      “Because we can.”
      ‘Nuff said, fellow suckers.

    • Jon says:

Took me a few minutes to really get steamed up – the great thing about America is that when someone is selling you snake oil you can run for the sheriff or string him up from the ole’ apple tree yourself.

Just ‘cos those who has CAN, doesn’t always mean they SHOULD.
I can’t pop you in the nose for sticking Patriotism in my face over toys
(yeah , we lovers of toy value share our collections the world over with the likes of Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro.
Why, I was telling Hugo just the other day “Dang, but wouldn’t it be great if they made an ‘Empire of Tears’ giftset?”,
      “Si, si…” he nodded.
You’d beter be ready to get all ‘Mike Hammer’ on me the next time you feel like bringing your dumb opinions to my door),
so I guess I’ll just have to settle for giving my fellow collectors a lesson in history:
US based multi-nationals decided sometime after 1946 that a good way to get people who demanded the old US quality they were used to to clam up and buy the expensive garbage they were selling was to make them seem anti-capitalist, anti-USA.
“You’ll take it in the wallet and like it, Pinko!”

I’m not saying I want my DC Universe figures to be made of wood and steel like the good old pre-War days, but the next time some jerk tells you how great the US of A is because you don’t have to buy, tell him to stuff a sock in it – and then do what I’m doing and write a note to Time-Warner/DC and tell them what a mess Mattel is making of their fine product (Bats, Supes, GL etc.), the product WE made famous with our support.
God Bless America and DC comics, you Sarah Palin aping dumbass.

      • niko says:

I take it I am the jerk you are referring to, throwing the U.S.of A. in your face buddy. Give me your info and I will send you the extra two bucks when You buy a figure chooch. These figures are the best sculpted line of all time and the character selection is a dream that I never thought would come true. Do you like to get compensated when you put your all in to your job. Do you have a job Jon? The horsemen do an awesome job and I will pay a few bucks more to keep them on board hopefully forever. I also think there is more than just the “price of plastic” at work here. Have you ever heard of rising wages for employees, rising gas prices for the vehicles that distribute the toys across the country, or the obvious upgrades they must be making to machinery that produces these figures. How do you think they made your “quality control” upgrades you were bitching about. Do you think they just took more time, and were more careful while hand-painting each figure. Its done on machines by the way.

      • niko says:

The other thing that aggravates me about internet toughguys like the chump above is this- You cry constantly about price and distribution. They should just sell every figure from every wave at every local 7 -Eleven and Wal-Mart in every town in the country for five bucks a piece. That would really increase the value of all our collections, maybe even one-hundred fold, right genius? P.S. no one wants a Constantine figure. Keanu Reeves version is probably what you’re looking for, right? All due respect, I’ll pass on that one…..

        • xxgrendelxx@yahoo.com says:

If you don’t like a Constantine figure – DON’T BUY IT (if they make it). Duh…
That’s the difference with the buying public – some people are “collectors” and some people like me are “enthusiasts” who love the line and just want them.
If it’s all about the money for you why don’t you get involved in a man’s game and trade stocks? Honestly, buying little plastic men so you can make a profit in ten years….That’s just sad.
Anyway, re: retail cost, gas prices have mainly stabilised and I don’t think Mattel is offering raises to it’s employees.
And the quality control should already have been there –
you don’t see Star Wars figures coming apart at the joints or fused.
I’m hardly an internet tough guy, I just don’t like being abused by twits like you for the sake of Mattel’s precious reputation.

        • xxgrendelxx@yahoo.com says:

Er – no, not Keanu Reeves.
I’ve actually been reading comics since 1977,
unlike some newbies that buy them for their ‘collections’ and store them unread in little plastic baggies.

  • Jon says:

Anyone notice how easily The Question could be the base for a John Constantine figure?
Trippy… Now where’s Swamp Thing with the CAC “bug” Arcane?
(C’mon, Horsemen! Ride this one right to the shelves, baby!)

    • The Flash III says:

Mattel only has licenses for DC Universe, not Vertigo characters. They’ve said unless a character is appearing in mainstream DC, they cannot make the character, so Swamp Thing is out for the moment.

      • John Jones says:

Man I’d LOVE a Swamp Thing figure. He’s my third favorite DC character behind Hawkman and Kilowog.

        • Jon says:

          Ah, another Beak Freak.
          We’re too few, I’m afraid.
I thought Carter Hall would be the single hottest figure in the entire collection (he’s the best looking), but no…
Anyhow – Bith would be nice, any version.

  • dcdriectrules says:

    enough with the lanterns!

    • Emerald says:

You won’t be too happy for 2010 if you don’t like GLanterns. At least one GL related character will be in every wave and with the upcoming movie, major comic series, new animated movie, and DC’s mileage with Batman and Superman waning DC/Warner/Mattel is counting on the year of the Green Lanterns.
I for one have waited for Green Lantern to get its heyday for years.

  • Shadeslord says:

Yep, 16.99 per single figure at BBTS, what a rip off. Everything since wave 3 feels like its made out of rubber…. I just can’t believe their going to charge 17 bucks for that crappy ass John Stewart figure…..

    • Jon says:

Astonishing, isn’t it. And this is my point. They’ve been overcharging all along (just like Hasbro over Legends) and now they’re REALLY going to screw us.
      How about some smaller packaging?
Do we really need a foot square for a six inch figure?
It’s not like they’re trying to fit a Galactus leg in there, or a Modok head.
I always felt good about Toy Biz because they always gave you your moneys’ worth.
Mattel and Hasbro? It’s all about the KY, baby.

      • Emerald says:

I had to comment again on this. Unfortunately, you’re right they could trim down their product in a lot of ways to bring the price into a more feasible range given the current marketplace jitters, but Mattel will be trimming down things we do like already as the line slowly dies. Parts reuse is the biggest result. We’ve seen that already to the Nth degree, but certain characters will suffer from it.

Perfect example: No doubt Mattel is planning a Copperhead figure. If they can’t cost out a newly tooled fully-scaled body the figure will suffer greatly and wishy-washy collectors who don’t really NEED the character will pass on him. One thing Toybiz understood very well is that going that extra mile for new tooling can make the character that much more appealing and sell that much better- making up for any extra cost. Granted sometimes this didn’t work for them for lots of other reasons, and it is true that Toybiz was in a very unique position to deliver such complex-to-produce figures for so cheap, but being as that was not that long ago, DCUC approaching $20 a piece will be hard to swallow.

    • Jon says:

If they make a ’70s Afro/Neal Adams variant on Stewart I’ll get excited.

    • Emerald says:

This is why I can’t see this line lasting beyond 2010. With base retail being over $15 each, resellers will be asking no less than $18 to $20 a figure, and they (Mattel) can’t afford to be so obscure with characters (ala Shark) if they need that retail support to survive. Most of the big guns (Superman, Flash, etc.) have been made so retail support is getting shaky at best. The ironic part is that we’re in a recession, meaning deflation, and yet everything is inflating at an unprecedented rate. Either companies like Mattel will have to trim down so that average paychecks can keep up, or collector’s action figures may be resigned to online sources only, with limited quantity and quality before fizzeling out as the rich man’s hobby of yesteryear.

      • Darkside Games says:

The reason on the pricing (for now) is due to bulk purchase. Wal-Mart & Target sell them for $11.99, Toys R Us for $12.99, and K-Mart for $13.99…all because of the amount they purchase and the contracts they sign. BBTS and other specialty shops only purchase (or are allowed to purchase) a few cases, thus raising the prise for them to make a profit to $14.99-$16.99. Even if you purchase a case through the previews catalog, to make a profit the figures would have to be $14-16.99. Even e-Bay jumps between $9.99-$19.99, depending on the figure. Your best bet is to find what you can in the store, and only buy online if you have to. I know the Wal-Mart line doesn’t help in that case.

  • Darkside Games says:

I think they are doing a great job getting a mix of main stream and lesser known characters. I still want to see Atomic Skull, Mad Hatter, Scarface w/ the Ventriloquist, Killer Croc, Mr. Freeze, and a Plastic Man Build-A-Figure!

    • Nathaniel says:

Plastic Man BaF. You, sir, have just given me a cause to fight for.

      • The Flash III says:

I just saw on Poe Ghostal’s site that Plastic Man might be the SDCC exclusive…so much for getting him.

    • D5 says:

Mr. Freeze and Killer Croc have already been made as part of the precursor line. They wont resculpt them. Just like they didnt resculpt Batgirl or Clayface.

      • Jon says:

I dunno…the Horsemen admit that they still have Toyman and the Scarecrow (I think they said Cheetah too in the interview) to complete the Legion of Doom.
Croc was a lousy figure (not even as good as it’s predecessor), but Scarecrow was pretty nice – they may just re-pack him but I hope they resculpt Croc.

  • Jon says:

    That’s it – I’m calling the cops.

If I wasn’t already in over my head with 6″ scale figures I wouldn’t have anything more to do with this line.
I’ve just been on Big Bad Toy Store’s website and the worst is certain: a price increase. A set of these will run an average of almost $17.00 per figure.
Where does Mattel get off? First they force us to purchase seven figures to make a CAC instead of a reasonable five, distribution issues, quality issues (that their customer service dept. handled quickly and kindly, thank the Godz), poor packaging decisions, etc. etc.
How is it a tiny operation like Toy Biz could produce something like the Marvel Legends line Angel figure with wings and a huge solid Sentinel leg for $9.00 maximum just a few years ago and we’re getting raped now? If plastic prices have almost doubled how is that every other item made of polyethylene or better doesn’t seem to have changed?

This is rape pure and simple.
If they are trying to even-up with companies like Mezco price-wise, well – Mezco uses a much better quality of material. If they charge $17.00 for one of their Spirit figures, for instance, I’m not happy about it but I understand.
If they are trying to even-up their price-point with DC Direct I have news for them – DCD has ALWAYS been a rip-off, but at least they use a nice plastic (though for my money they have rarely used it to it’s best effect, except on sculpts of Alex Ross drawn characters).
Anyway, I’m as disgusted as an addict with his pusher, and I’m seriously consider theft as an alternative.

    • Jon says:

I should have mentioned pricing “in house”: how can a poseable, faux-skin eleven inch Barbie with a cloth outfit sell for less than ten dollars and we’re going to pay almost $17.00 for a solid plastic six inch figure, most of which utilize the same components only repainted? I’m sure there are fees to DC/Warner but… POLICE!

      • niko says:

Here is the link for whining, complaining, pansies: Marvel Legends.com. For the last time: If you dont like it DONT BUY IT!!!!

        • Jon says:

Let me guess: when you served your time in jail – when the big ‘Marys’ told you they wanted a peice you just said “Okay, no whining – here’s my butt” ?
Am I close? You just can’t figure out a mean masochist… (taps skull)

  • ted kord....THE BLUE BETTLE says:

keep them lanterns commin baby!!!!! now the only others i want are kyle rayner, guy gardner, salaak, and gnort!!! for villains i would like 2 have black hand, build a figure arkillo, and amon sur!!!

  • Templar says:

Really only want The Question, green Steppenwolf and good old Kilowogg (which means I gotta get the rest….sigh!)……..Still wondering if Q’s fedora is removable?? Now, where’s CATMAN – the other fan favorite candidate for a DCUC figure ??

  • RedAl says:

When I saw the lineup in this wave i wet myself..But you all seem so exiceted?! Steppenwolf, John Stewart, Question..Thye all look like they came free in Happy Meals!!!! AND SHARK! Jesus..His heads just been stuck on like a pencil topper. I love this line. But as i cant get wave 10 (I live in England) this is a major dissapointment.

    • John Jones says:

I think it’s the lighting that’s causing them to look a tad on the cartoony side. But the green Steppenwolf looks alot better than the other one.

  • Jaime Rheyes says:

It’s a Kilowag series. Meaning Green Lanterns, yes? THEN WHERE IS KYLE RAYNER!?

    • Mace02 says:

      What about Guy Gardner?

    • John Jones says:

My thoughts exactly. I’m hopeing if and when they finally do him, I’d like to see him in his 90s costume with the white and black and green, and the cool mask, and the awesome gloves.

    • Jaime Rheyes says:

I was looking forward To Kyle Rayner, when I found out it is a KILOWAG sereies. I mean, Deadman? Really? Put him in a new wave! And put Kyle where he BELONGS!

  • John Jones says:

GyahhhhhKilowogNerdgasm. Kilowog looks absolutely fantastic. The only figure I’m not uber excited for is Katma Tui, but it’ll help build the GLC! Though I never got a chance to get Hal… Anyway, Steppenwolf, I love the green version, I don’t think I even want the red one, John Stewart, must have, same with Question and Deadman, and Cyborg Superman would be awesome to have as well. Oh, almost forgot Tiger Shark. I’d never read anything featuring Tiger Shark but he looks cool so I’ll pick him up.

  • Nathaniel says:

I want them all. I admit, I do wish they’d do away with World’s Greatest Heroes, I’d rather have a better chance of getting new stuff than having the oldies clogging up pegs.
But this wave looks fantastic. Kilowog may be the best C&C yet, I love the “Super Powers” variants, and John & Katma can be together forever on my shelf.
Not sure who The Shark is, he’s the Doctor Impossible of this wave, I guess…

    • Emerald says:

Yeah the World’s Greatest Super Heroes is a nice homage to Mego and I am an old Mego collector but even I was like, huh? The head sculpts are terrible. The originals were crude yes, but the sculptors back then were’nt blind.
I think they are pure pegwarmers. Mego’s dead. They need to update the idea to take it further than that.
….in DCUC news, I didn’t think any new Kilowog figure could replace the Dc Direct one, but even at $90 he’s pretty damn cool!

  • Caesar says:

    Niiice..

    Is this the final figure?
Coz in my opinion, the facial expression of Deadman is kinda awkward (though i still think it’s cool), the head of The Shark is like some removeable mask and it’s kinda weird, and maybe you can give Steppenwolf some scabbard for his weapon.. It’s just my opinion 🙂

  • Emerald says:

I can see a lot of reuse from Deadman’s lower half. That could possiblly assure us a classic Dick Grayson Robin and Spectre for next year. Looking forward to that!

  • Emerald says:

I could *almost* see paying $15 (plus whatever scalper E-tailers tack on ~ whatever happened to the idea of a case discount? BTW) with Kilowog being included. But Jon Stewart & Katma Tui, use almost no new tooling for $15+. Ouch. Tooling for a new part is expensive but surely they got their money’s worth from those two buck bodies long ago yet we’re still going to pay more. Thus the addition of the constructs at least.
At the rate everything’s been going they’ll go up in price again next year. I can’t see DCUC surviving into 2011 at nearly $20 a figure. That’s scalper pricing!

  • John Jones says:

Same here, with these and the next few series, plus the Street Fighter figures and possibly the Marvel Legends, all of that, it’s gonna be tough. If they go up in price, I’m still getting this series because I want Kilowog, But the Imperiex series I’ll prolly just get Joker, Man Bat, and maybe Beast Boy.

  • shadeslord says:

God these figures are awesome…. don’t know how I’ll ever afford them
